The Residents of Long Beach are pleased to announce the 26th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace & Unity Celebration musical headliner, “ROSE ROYCE”, on Saturday, January 18th. The event is held from 12 noon to 5:00 pm, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, 1550 Lemon Avenue, Long Beach, CA.
The Grammy Award Winning, Multi-Platinum selling Group Rose Royce has sold millions of copies of the albums “Car Wash”, “In Full Bloom” and “Rose Royce Strikes Again”. In their twenty-five year recording history, Rose Royce music is currently being played on radio stations all over the world, such sensations as “Wishing on a Star”, “I Wanna Get Next To You”, just to name a few. Many artists have covered or sampled Rose Royce’s Mega hit songs such as … (Beyonce) “Wishing On A Star”, (Seal) “Love Don’t Live Here Any More” ,and (Mary J Blige) “I’m Going Down”.

The main stage will also feature additional performances by Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church Choir, Khmer Arts Cultural Center Dancers, Rush Hour, Alvin Hayes, Jr., Dat Ez Band, and Box Car 7. This year’s Master of Ceremonies is Donaldo Reed, the founder of Rockin’ Blues Entertainment. Donaldo will be giving away all types of free gifts on the main stage, including new Fixie bicycle.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration is a free multi-cultural event. The celebration is filled with great entertainment and special interest groups that focus on the teachings of Dr King. Along with a day of enlightment through music, you can visit an assortment of attractions such as the Health Pavilion that provides all free health screenings such as blood pressure and diabetes testing. Other attractions include an assortment of specialty craft, merchandise, food, and informational exhibitors that will feed your senses. There is also “Dreamland”, the children and teen area, which includes free carnival rides for the small children, a teen stage with dancing performances and contest, arts and crafts booths, and a nutritional snack stand that teaches kids about nutrition.
